Job Description:

The Controller provides day to day financial oversight of the $35MM operating budget for the management company and $150MM in annual spending by the Foundation. Areas of responsibility include accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, budgeting, banking relations, insurance, cash management, annual audit, and monthly financial statements.

Role and Responsibilities:

Oversee the accounting for the CHDI Management and CHDI Foundation, including but not limited to:

  • Prepare general ledger postings, monthly closings and financial statements
  • Create and disseminate management reports on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis, including to the Board of Directors
  • Maintain accounting for research agreements and ensure timely closure of agreements in the Quickbase contract management system
  • Manage the annual external audit and ensure it is completed on-time and in good standing
  • Prepare forecasts and variance reports
  • Supervise processing of accounts payable
  • Accounting for and conducting a physical inventory of fixed assets
  • Prepare cash flow analysis and monitor working capital needs
  • Coordination of non-employee benefit insurance, including preparation of the annual Worker’s Compensation and General Liability audits
  • Prepare analysis and documentation for 1099s, payroll, local taxes and similar filings
  • Preparation and monitoring of the CHDI Management operating budget
  • Expense report review and approval
  • Maintain relationships with banks, auditors and other vendors


  • A. in Accounting or Finance – CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience with preference for supervisory and non-profit accounting experience
  • Solid technical accounting skills are essential
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills essential, knowledge of QuickBooks is a plus
  • Excellent relationship building skills, with the ability to work effectively with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders
