CHDI adopts policies designed to further its mission to find treatments for Huntington's disease as quickly as possible and to ensure that our support is provided in an open and consistent basis. These policies are summarized below. ACADEMIC OverheadBasic Research - CHDI research contracts with academic institutions provide an allowance for overhead and indirect costs equal to 15% of budgeted personnel and laboratory consumables costs incurred in connection with laboratory research projects. Costs associated with custom-made reagents, animals purchased from third parties, equipment, travel, and per diem expenses are not considered personnel or laboratory consumables costs for purposes of this overhead and indirect costs allowance. Clinical Research - At the present time, overhead and indirect costs associated with the coordination, data management, biostatistics and site activities of clinical research projects are assessed on a case-by-case basis. . Eligible Personnel
CHDI research contracts with academic institutions are intended to support the work of faculty members, post-doctoral fellows and associated technical staff. In exceptional circumstances CHDI will consider providing support for graduate students. Sharing of Results and Intellectual PropertyCHDI believes that sharing information will accelerate our goal of finding treatments for Huntington’s disease as quickly as possible and is committed to making such exchanges as easy as possible. Our approach tries to strike a balance between the free exchange of information, researchers’ interest in publication and the creation of desirable intellectual property. The terms of our contracts reflect our attempt to find this balance. If you have any questions about this policy, please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. When we feel a subject requires discussion to further Huntington's disease research, we may organize a workshop or meeting. We will also consider a meeting collaboration if the proposed meeting might yield insights that accelerate the development of therapies for Huntington’s disease. CHDI will consider supporting an independent meeting if:
